Tøyen Metro Station

The background for the proposed metro entrance is necessary safety upgrades at Tøyen Metro Station. The measure includes the establishment of a new emergency exit from the station, which will also serve as a new access point to the platform. The new access is located on the edge of Tøyenparken, primarily oriented toward Finnmarksgata.

Since the area is zoned for park purposes, particular attention has been given to the design to ensure good integration with the surroundings. A clear goal has been to achieve high quality in façade materials, paving, and landscaping, while minimizing the footprint and height of the structure. The proposal is intended not only to meet functional requirements but also to add value to the area and help activate the surrounding urban space.

Comprehensive analyses of the area have been carried out, and several alternative designs and material choices have been considered. During the process, a number of interim meetings have been held with planning authorities and other relevant stakeholders. In addition, the project has had to address complex technical solutions and considerations related to the flow of passengers to and from the station.
